The SELENE satellite lived up to its popular nickname of "Kaguya". The oldest extant Japanese story, 'The Tale of Princess Kaguya' tells of a beautiful moon-girl and the Emperor of Japan's failed attempts to woo her which ended with his army's ascent of Mount Fuij - the closest point in his world to the moon. The Japanese Kaguya lunar orbiter satellite crash landed on the lunar surface -it may have taken a while, but it was worth the effort.
