Today in History: England's King Henry VIII died today on January 28th and was briefly succeeded by his 9-year-old son, Edward VI, before Elizabeth ascended to the throne.  Humanzoo_1Today in History: England's King Henry VIII died today on January 28th and was briefly succeeded by his 9-year-old son, Edward VI, before Elizabeth ascended to the throne.  A little known fact in history was Pope Clement V11 (his childhood friend) commissioning of Michelaneglo to illustrate Dante's Divine Comedy to present by Britain's Cardinal Pole as a gift (bribe) to keep Henry in the Catholic faith, which Henry rebuffed and closed England's monasteries.
