From the 'X-Files' Dept: "Extraterrestrial Civilizations Discovered within 20 Years"

Russian scientists expect humanity to encounter alien civilizations within the next two decades. "The genesis of life is as inevitable as the formation of atoms ... Life exists on other planets and we will find it within 20 years," said Andrei Finkelstein, director of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute.

Speaking this summer at an international forum dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial life, Finkelstein said 10% of the known planets circling suns in the galaxy resemble Earth.

If water can be found there, then so can life, he said, adding that aliens would most likely resemble humans with two arms, two legs and a head. "They may have different colour skin, but even we have that," he said.

Finkelstein's institute runs a program launched in the 1960s at the height of the cold war space race to watch for and beam out radio signals to outer space.

"The whole time we have been searching for extraterrestrial civilizations, we have mainly been waiting for messages from space and not the other way," he said.

I'd die happy if life was confirmed outside of our planet before my existence ends.

I am sure that life exists in some distant galaxy billions of light years away or even in our own galaxy. Just how are we to make trade? How are we to communicate and do we have the 'divine' right to intervene with thier society?

ya, and fusion power if just 10 years away (still)
Forever left out of the argument is the fact that there aways has to be a first and a last. We may be the first intelligent species to evolve (scary thought), or we could be the last of a dying class.

Don't trust these fucking Russians.

The reality of life and probably even intelligent life elsewhere in the Galaxy is IMHO certain. But contact, ever, is a different story.

Although I would like to believe in Star Trek kind of travel and exchange it is hard to imagine with the existing distances how we can ever truly make contact unless the laws of physics prohibiting faster than light travel are found to be incorrect.

For me though confirmation would be enough to change my view of existence forever.

I too would find peace of mind with confirmation as well. Due to the huge distances involved I think that our best chance for confirmation over the next 20 years or so is look for energy signatures that would indicate the presence of a star faring civilization

What would Ryan suggest..... watching for their warp signatures?

Actually, fusion power is here now. Rossi is selling his e-Cat fusion generators in Italy as of Oct 28th. Real fusion. Look it up.

You forgot to ad:

The fucking Russian Jews, lol....

I had to laugh when I read the above remark. If he really thinks that then all I can say is that he has been watching far too much star trek! Lets just hope that if they do exsist as he suggest with the same 2 arms & legs as us then I hope they're not as aggressive as Klingons, Romulans, Hirogen or the Borg then we as a species are screwed!

there is other life out there, and if people stop thinking that we can not travel faster than the speed of light then we will move closer to getting out there and find them. it is not faster than the speed of light that is impossible but the speed of time light is a measurment of time the same as sound they are not time itself

yo jeremy you jew hater- fuck you too

this is just like the youtube comments..

Many people will either not be able to accept it but...such contact has been ongoing for 70 years.

Watch the film for free (The Silent Revolution of Truth) and really, really think about it:

...and then carefully go through the prophecies, predictions and volumes of already corroborated scientific information at the site.

Then ask your self WHY you either have never heard about it before, or have only read the disinformation and attacks from the mainstream media, governments, religions, etc.

echo...thank you so much for the info!

to the people that come here to speak bad about others..if you don't like Russians or Jews..who cares,,,i,m asking you guys..what dose that have to do with any of that..after all you are the ones that have a problem here...you look like idiots.

you showed us right away who you are...probably some dropout that never finished highschool, never done anything good in life and you are probably blaming all the others for it..good job Moron(Ecurve

First off, the Russian/Jew comments were most likely a weak attempt at humor...lighten up a little and move on. Modern society needs to move their panic buttons from the soles of their feet to someplace less prone to activation...

Secondly, what he said isn't in the remotest sense earth shattering or new thinking. I'd be careful with the term 'resemble earth'. In the broad public that statement will get you into trouble as they will think you mean something much more narrow than you actually do. Rocky with atmosphere and potential water isn't what most people visualize with that statement. All the planets I know of that have been confirmed are MUCH larger than earth which affects gravity, atmospheric density and a host of other factors. One would also have to know about the EM field..etc etc the list goes on.

He is right about sentient life. It would most likely resemble us in a superficial manner as it just makes sense logically speaking. You mount your sensors up high with a short link to the processor. Two limbs for manipulating the environment (one is crippling, four is a diminishing return for caloric investment). Two limbs for motility over varied surface (again four is too costly when a creature could move smarter with tools instead of just faster). They would likely be omnivorous as this makes life easier. I could go on and on but you get the point. We are how we are for a reason- it works. Now artificial life is another topic entirely...our creative toolbox is a bit larger in that case but the same principles can still apply but a directed purpose versus a developed one can provide some stark contrasts as well.
