Ancient Language of Universal Symbols Discovered

Babel Over the last several years, similar petroglyphs have been identified on as many as five continents. They all date from roughly the same time-period. In the late 20th century, archaeologists discovered a collection of symbols carved in stone as petroglyphs in the Negev desert of Israel that appeared to be writing. Dating of these symbols showed that they were made over an extended period time, beginning around 1700 BC.

Ancient_petroglyphsThis strange collection of symbols was first examined by Dr. James Harris, a petroglyph expert and archaeologist from Brigham Young University. He identified the alphabet as being a proto-Canaanite system, which successfully translated by using old-Hebrew or Thalmudic phonetic sounds.

Earlier, William McGlone, an amateur archaeologist and retired space engineer, discovered the same collection of symbols carved in heavily patinated stones surrounding the Southeast town of La Junta, Colorado. Dating of the patina corresponded to the same era as the writing found in Harkarkom in Israel.

The petroglyphs in Colorado were photographed and posted on the Internet. Within a few years, images of similar petroglyphs were sent to the site where the images were hosted, Viewzone, by archaeologists and historians from many different global locations. This included a huge collection of writing from the Republic of Yemen at the site of the palace of the Queen of Sheba.

Strangely, both the writing in Colorado and Yemen spoke of a similar event, possibly related to the Sun, which was prophesied to change human civilization. Subsequent translations of sites in Oklahoma, Australia and South America have added more details about this future event.

The majority of the petroglyphs have already been verified to be of ancient origin, which makes it quite puzzling to experts. How did they all have the same language and tell the same story on opposite ends of a globe? Perhaps our ancient ancestors traveled more than previously thought possible.

Research is currently being conducted to further validate the authenticity and common features of the writing.

That aside, its a neat thing to speculate about but there are no examples. Show this "ancient text" side by side from the various locations. Otherwise I have no choice but to wave the "Bullshit!" flag.

This stuff could just be pure coincidence or an elaborate hoax -- but a part of me has always been drawn to the Learning Channel/Discovery Channel specials about the "truth" behind ancient myths. This one reminds me of a particular special on Atlantis. What if we were to speculate that an advanced ancient race of people were destroyed by a natural disaster or invasion. If they were scattered around the world as a result, this could be their long lost language?

Yes, far-fetched, and completely lacking in evidence -- but truth is sometimes stranger than fiction...

Great...another 2012 theory - everyone seems to have one these days.

And let's get positively Old Testament, shall we? I believe the book of Genesis mentions that men had the same language at one time...until they tried to build a tower that would reach to the heavens. Then God confused them by dividing their speech into different languages. If this isn't some elaborate hoax or a misunderstanding of data, I find it fascinating how things like this tend to lend credence to a book that was written thousands of years ago.
That's just my interpretation. It has at LEAST as much credibility as ancient advanced civilizations...

Considering that a discovery like this would (if verified as "true")would throw on its head the current mainstream conceptions of human linguistic and cultural distributions of the ancient world, this would be quite a profound realization for us seekers (and writers) of human history to make. But, I have to side with Spindrift and second his motion of "bullshit," at least until more evidence is presented.

"And let's get positively Old Testament, shall we? I believe the book of Genesis mentions that men had the same language at one time.."

yeah and you believe in the speaking snake too, do you :D lol.

"yeah and you believe in the speaking snake too, do you :D lol."

Why be responsible and open-minded adults when we can simply laugh at others for their beliefs?

Looks like we've conclusively proven that man has a universal desire to draw simple shapes on rocks. I looked at the proof provided, and a) they don't look inexplicably similar, b) they don't say jack about the same event; most are just scribbles.

It's Tower of Babel bullshit.

This is not the first evidence that shows somehow that the ancients were spread around the world, you can read about philosophy and the extreme similarity of the ideas, you can read about the similarity in Architecture, Cartography, Archaeology...etc

Ancients have a lot in common and everyday scientists find evidence around the world.

Science all the way : )

"God" put those there ... you know ... to test your faith. Move along, move along. It's the "devil's" work.

Yes, I'm loving at your beliefs. Of course, that the mind of any human being falls victim to such irrationality is no laughing matter so, although I'm laughing at your beliefs, I'm not laughing at you. I rather pity those who are seemingly trapped in that belief system. They need genuine help to overcome the intellectual missteps they've taken and it falls to those who have not taken such missteps to aid them if willing and able.

At any rate, I have to side with those who cry "bullshit" in this case. As a professional linguist myself, there would have to be some very compelling evidence to support the notion of a shared prehistorical language at such great and historically unlikely distances. Methinks there is far more to this story and quite likely involving at least some attempts at subterfuge also likely on the the part of some member or members of certain western theistic religions. Although interesting and even intriguing to consider the possibilities, it is little more than a curiosity until some well-grounded science is presented to support it.

I'm afraid I have to call BS on this one. If you look at the 2nd image, first, the writing would never be that clear after nearly 4,000 years, and second, the writing magically crosses the cracks in the rocks. This may be some kind of enhancement on the picture for our benefit, but if it is, this should be openly stated. And I'm thinking this would be pretty huge, international news if it were true. Not just something mentioned on a web site that most people haven't ever heard of.

Bringham Young.... Mormon... they believe the 10 lost tribes of Israel came to the Americas ... with some of the the middle eastern plants and animals as well....unfortunately not a shred of real historical or archeological evidence for it.

This sounds vaguely similar and may just be Mormon driven archeology.

Yeah, I'm going to have to call bullshit on this whole article. I shouldn't even deign to leave a comment.

Aliens have been visiting us for awhile. It's not brain surgery. There's so much evidence of this, it's laughable to think otherwise.

It took about 50 million years for intelligent life to develop on earth, from the most basic, to present-day. Within that time, there is evidence of multiple waves, and ebbs, of "civilization."

The universe has been around for 12 billion years at least. That means there was plenty of time of time for intelligent life to evolve with the capacity to travel fast and far enough to visit us. What do you think they'd want to leave with us after they left?

Yeah, I'm going to have to call bullshit on this whole article. I shouldn't even deign to leave a comment..

Wouldn't the first guess be the CHINESE since they navigated the globe in the early 15th century?

"Universal symbols"? Nonsense. Ancient Hebrew in Colorado? Sooooo unlikely as to be impossible. Gillespie's "translation"? Typical in its 18th-century lameness and inaccuracy.

Please. Why waste time with such guff?

Lol, The bible is totally correct all humans did have the same language at one point, probably 10,000,000 years ago, when we all lived in one little happy group together, then we split, and slowly the languages changed... just like canadian and American english is slightly different from the english in england, if UK and US werent in constant contacty with each other im sure the languages would be quite diferent allready...

Anyone interested in this old common language should read Snowcrash by Neal Stephenson:

It,s a freat sci-fi novel with lots of details on this primal Sumerian language that is recongnized by all hman as our basic built-in language. A really great book. :)

Wow, that is some pretty cool stuff dude!

...Does no one notice that this is BS archeology to try and make the tower of babel seem like a true event?

Notice the shadiness of the links, the lack of sources. Some of the photos are clearly photoshopped.

Also, the ones that look authentic depict things that would obviously be all over the world, like people, animals, plants and the sun.

The Colorado ones are a known and well established fake. Additionally, you must have the wrong image posted here for the Israel ones, because that is not any form of a Semitic inscription. There are some that, possibly by chance, look like modern Hebrew, but most of it is nonsensical symbols.

Let's see. Something happens in the sky big enough for a lot of people on Earth to see it. I'm in Colorado 2000 years ago, look up in the sky and see something happening with the sun. I go to a nearby rock and draw a circle and some squiggly lines. Thousands of miles away, in the Middle East, someone else looks up and sees the same thing, walks over to a nearby rock and draws a circle on it with some squiggly lines.

About 2,000 years later, someone puts photos of these two rock paintings together and concludes that these two people thousands of years ago must certainly have been in contact with each other or there was a common world language.

Which is more likely: 1) Humans are likely to draw a circle to represent the sun because it looks like a circle and stick figures to represent people? 2) These humans were in some mysterious contact with each other? 3) That there was a common world language? Or 4) Alien involvement?

I swear people have forgotten Occam's razor and haven't read any basic linguistics or non-political work of Noam Chomsky. :)

god damn it.. I fucking hate this site.. always tricking me with their titles.. you guys suck
