They're Beaming "The Day the Earth Stood Still" Into Space

11585largetw3 The Day The Earth Stood Still  — the movie about aliens coming to Earth to wipe out mankind is going to be broadcast into space. The director of the new remake, Scott Derrickson, doesn't want to be blamed for aliens landing on Earth after they see his movie.

The Earth Stood Still transmission will reach any possible civilizations currently orbiting Alpha Centauri approximately four years from now, in the year 2012. Maybe they'll zoom down for some bailout cash.

aliens should be bailed out.

Depending on the movie, 1. the aliens will take it as a "we-warn-you-this-happened-to-us-could-happen-to-you", 2. "they-tried-and-we-defeated-them", 3. "they-came-we-diplomatically-convinced-them", 4. "we-saved-for-unknown-reason".

A transmission of " The Day the Earth Stood Still " could be looked at in one of many ways, indeed, by a technologically advanced civilization in space.

As for me, I can't believe that Hollywood is messing about with a perfectly good Classic movie probably for no other reason than " WE CAN ". Re - makes of such movies, like the Tom Cruise " War of The Worlds " just aren't very good except for having " Gosh - Wow !! " special effects.

I'm waiting for someone to do a bouncier, sexed - up version of " 2001: A Space Odyssey ". ( The subject of a hilarious " Robot Chicken " sketch. ). After that, I'd expect to hear the sound of Stanley Kubrick spinning in his grave - or urn !! Or a re - make of " Return of the Jedi " with a " Yo Mama fight " sequence between Luke & Emperor Palpatine.
Unbelievable......

It appears that there has been a trend in the villification of "aliens", where those of us who think this through critically, we must, it seems, ask, what is the motivation, and what do those responsible know that maybe driving this villification forward. Having persued this article, I now do not plan to see the new film.

After much observation of our Earth, I think the Aliens out there have decided to give all the entire 6.5 billion miserably, contentious lot of us here aboard HMS Planet Earth the same avoidance as the Eskimos who observed the fate of the 129 men aboard the HMS Terror and HMS Erebus in the Franklin Expedition of 1841 - 1843. Those Eskimos knew to avoid contact with our interlopers. Eskimo oral traditions of that time recalled their previous Eskimo settlement's sufferings from those who dared make contact with our earlier forebears.
Their ancestors were decimated by our pillagings, our robbings, our rapings and our forbear's other diseases.
Maybe it is time, for the present miserably, contentious 6.5 billion lot of us here, to decide on the task of cleaning up our one and only 'house' here. Eh! Before we anticipate any company from those Aliens who might decide to risk arriving here from out there.
But first can we decide not to be blindered by our own stultifying and stupifying Darwino - Malthusian dogma? Eh!
My mentor, the late Bucky F., knew how to.

Good ....they are trying to say 'we are here'.

Howevre i DO NOT BELIEVE (and can prove) that a radio signal with Video bandwidth ,transmitted even from the largest antenna in the world (e.g Aracibo) with 10 MWatt transmitter can reach Alfa Centaury with a detectable signal intensity ....there....

If they would use laser beams must be really powerfull and then they have to compute screening by the dust and by other sky bodies .....

Very difficult task.....likely impossible ...we are not in a Holliwood moovie...and known Physics does what it does

Regards...

To paraphrase the title of another movie --

" The Aliens Must Think We're Crazy " !!! If they've already had the technology to receive some of our transmissions from Earth. Even if they're sufficiently different from us, culturally, in terms of species & technological development, they wouldn't be able to make sense of our transmissions. They might think that humans are a backwards, profoundly insane lot. They might be right.

We should look for a big canister of alien Prozac arriving in orbit 50 - 200 years from now, perhaps.....
