FEDEX Nixes '09 Superbowl: We'll Miss that Great 10,000 BC Ad!

Funny, but was that a Creationist ad?

Chris

Why Fed-Ex may now have made the third-worst commercial of all time (and they already own spot #2)

In 1984, during the Superbowl, Apple introduced the Macintosh with what is widely regarded as the best commercial in the history of advertising, the infamous "1984 Big Brother" ad.

In 1985, during the Superbowl, Apple introduced Macintosh Office with what is widely regarded as the worst, absolute worst, commercial in the history of advertising, the infamous "Lemmings" ad. (Youtube has all these clips for your viewing pleasure)

By paying homage to the horrific Apple Lemmings commercial, FedEx automatically won the number 2 spot for all posterity. Rumour that they were trying for the number one spot are based mainly on how terrible the FedEx ad is in its own right.

However, since the Apple commercial was able to infer that everyone in the corporate world is a mindless lemming subtly, While FedEx just comes out and says it with a straight face, they may just win that coveted position at the pile of the heap.

PS the ad agencies get at least half the blame in each instance.
