The IMDB for Music?
Soundflavor has relaunched as a consumer-friendly database of song information that will provide users with a one-stop-shop for song information, videos, and recommendations in an attempt to create an IMDB-like solution for music.
The site make it easy to find a particular song or artist. Users can browse and filter their searches by genre, decade, or even by the subject of the lyrics. After choosing a song, you are presented with a mashup of related information, including artist bios from Wikipedia, recent news headlines, store links to purchase the song, and flickr photos.
Soundflavor pulls music from your existing music collection and music shared on your local network creating interactive playlists that vary in “flavor”, or similarity, helping you to rediscover the music that you already own or that the people around you own. In addition to that, Soundflavor will recommend new music similar to what you already own or are listening to for purchasing and building out your library.
With the Playlist Creator, you can take Soundflavor’s work with you — simply pick a track, artist or album as a “flavor” and Soundflavor will generate a playlist with as many “flavored” tracks as you want. Each page also features a “One-Click
Playlist” that generates a list of 25 songs based on a song’s flavors. The system also allows users to compile playlists
of music videos that can be embedded on social media sites or blogs.
