"Blipverts" Go Mainstream

Poster_dark_knight_joker_2 The line between the online world and broadcast television continues to blur. Sunday night's telecast of The Office on Canada's Global Television Network featured a series of three interstitial ads that flashed briefly between other commercials and showed static, a test pattern and a close-up on a mysterious face in clown makeup.

These "blipverts" had a webcam-style aesthetic, looking and feeling more like online teaser clips than traditional commercials. It's a safe bet that these micro ads were for The Dark Knight, next summer's sequel to Batman Begins, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Heath Ledger as the Joker.  What remains to be seen is whether these commercials mark the beginning of another alternate reality game promoting the film, like the one launched at this year's San Diego Comic-Con via the whysoserious.com website.

The ads were for Saw IV...

Thank you, I guess. I seriously thought the Saw 4 ads I've been seeing around SF were a hoax... didn't Saw III come out like 6 months ago?

My Bad! I drew a blank on the character make-up and my research came to the wrong conclusion. Apologies to all.

I love and am used to keeping a distance with those changed things.Only in this way can I know what will not be abandoned by time. Forexample, when you love someone, changes are all around. Then I stepbackward and watching it silently, then I see the true feelings.
