If NASA Missions Twitter from the Moon, Can Vulcans be Far Behind?

Vulcans_3 Apparently the current rage at NASA is to partner with Web 2.0 companies like Twitter and save itself from turning into a dinosaur in the Internet age. The thinking is that if the agency can adopt Web technologies like Twitter — a social network for broadcasting thoughts online or via text message — then the Twitter generation will be more connected to space exploration and inspired to learn about science and support upcoming missions and influence Congressional support.

NASA's ploy reminds us of that ETI hypothesis that says that if advanced extraterrestrial civilizations existed, they'd send us a message via the World Wide Web. Now that's cool!

Our parting thought is, don't be surprised if someday soon there's a Twitter message from a Sarek@gmail.VL
