"Ashes & Snow" -Gregory Colbert's Emotional Photographic Response to Nature & Our Place in It
In a rare public
appearance, Canadian-born photographer Gregory Colbert shares an astounding film from
his exhibit, Ashes and Snow -a ground-breaking exhibition of
more than 100 photographs on Japanese paper and three films,. The filming of the project consisted of 25 expeditions to around the world, to
document the interaction between 45 species and humans, to India to
photograph the elephants that are his first love, to Sri Lanka, South
Africa, Egypt, and the oceans off the Azores. Colbert's extraordinary sepia-toned images reveal a rarely seen
poetic beauty in man's relationship to the animal kingdom.
