Starcraft 2 and n Vengeance

Droidek_starcraft_2_2If you’ve ever wondered about the Russian criminal justice system, and the speed with which it acts – which we all have at one time or another – then this is for you.

Valentin Kiseliov has been served with a 3 year conditional jail sentence, as punishment for developing an emulator of the server part of the online game Ragnarok Online. The highly popular MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), developed in South Korea, has seen itself made in to an animated TV series and is currently awaiting its sequel.

However Valentin Kiseliov is claiming that he wrote the code himself, from scratch. He will be filing an appeal to the Moscow City Court to appeal the decision, but one wonders how it is he could have so perfectly written the code for it to be mistaken for the real deal.

Speaking of South Korea and gaming. Blizzard, the makers behind the increasingly popular World of Warcraft, and the South Korean staple Starcraft, have let slip some more details for their upcoming sequel to the national game of South Korea.

In the latest edition of the gaming magazine PC Gamer, a feature highlights the continuing development of Starcraft II, and what we might expect from it. Hero units will no longer be as important, nor require as much hands on management, as in Warcraft III. This means a lot to players of the game, who will no longer need to split their attention so fully between their standard units and their hero unit.

As of the writing of the article, a unit cap will limit the sides to a maximum of 200 units each. However users will be able to highlight as many as available, without group restrictions. Blizzard consulted with top competitive SC and WCIII players from Korea in the making of Starcraft II.

No decisions have been made as to minimum system requirements, but Blizzard has always made videogames that suit computers from the lower end, all the way to the gaming high end.

All in all, Starcarft II is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of our generation. The question is, will it beat out its predecessor as reigning title in South Korea.

U suck. That's starwars, not starcraft.

You ask if SC2 will beat out the original in S. Korea? For sure. The only thing that isn't certain about this is how fast the change will be implemented. A lot of people think much of the decision will fall on what Boxer (most famous SC player evAr) does. If he decides to make the switch immediately, many of the pro gamers and league sponsors will follow. If he doesn't, SC will die a much slower death.
