Wi-Fi Could Be a Health Harzard: Scientists Demand Testing
Last week we posted about cell phones being a possible cause for rapid bee colony deaths (see link below). Some scientists are also concerned about what risks Wi-Fi may pose for humans. More research is needed to determine what health risks Wi-Fi could pose.
Teaching unions and scientists in the UK are pressing for an official investigation into the potential risks of Wi-Fi before it is introduced into schools. Alan Preece, professor of medical physics at Bristol University, who is a pioneer of research into the effects of cell phones on the brain says, "No one is really aware of what we are dealing with. The Department for Trade and Industry needs to take the lead and do some investigation."
In the US, Dr George Carlo, chair of the Science and Public Policy Institute, is setting up a global registry of people who are suffering from symptoms possibly caused by the technology.
These concerned scientists believe that the public deserves to be made aware of any potential health risks posed by Wi-Fi technology. They also believe that an official investigation, not tied to the powerful Wi-Fi industries, start immediately. The goal is for a study to be led by eminent scientists to ensure that there are no dangers connected with the growing levels of "electronic smog".
