Lord Moncton Challenges Al Gore to "Great Debate on Global Warming"

Global_warming_2On Saturday evening on June 30, 1860, the famous biologist T.H. Huxley, known as "Darwin's Bulldog," debated the Bishop of Oxford, Samuel Wilberforce on the truth of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution in his Origin of the Species in the elegant, Victorian-Gothic Library of the Oxford Museum of Natural History. Wilberforce opened the great debate by turning to Huxley to demand of him whether he was desdcended from the apes by way of his grandmother or grandfather. According to Huxley, he turned to his neighbor and whispered, "The Lord hath delivered him into my hands."

In a possible replay of this historic event, Great Britain's rightwing Lord Moncton has challengned Al Gore to a Second Great Debate, an internationally televised, head-to-head, nation-unto-nation confrontation on the question, "That our effect on climate is not dangerous." Monckton, a former policy adviser to Margaret Thatcher during her years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said, "A careful study of the substantial corpus of peer-reviewed science reveals that Mr. Gore's film, An Inconvenient Truth, is a foofaraw of pseudo-science, exaggerations, and errors, now being peddled to innocent schoolchildren worldwide."

Lord Monckton says he chose this historic venue "not only because the magnificent,
Gothic architecture will be a visually-stunning setting for the debate but also because
I hope that in this lofty atmosphere the caution and scepticism of true science will once
again prevail, this time over the shibboleths and nostrums of the false, new
religion of climate alarmism." Lord Monckton says he chose this historic venue "not only because the magnificent, Gothic architecture will be a visually-stunning setting for the debate but also because
I hope that in this lofty atmosphere the caution and scepticism of true science will once
again prevail, this time over the shibboleths and nostrums of the false, new
religion of climate alarmism."

"Forasmuch as it is His Lordship who now flings down the gauntlet to the Vice-President, it shall be the Vice-President's prerogative and right to choose his weapons by specifying the form of the Great Debate.  MayTruth win!  Magna est veritas, et praevalet. God Bless America! God Save the Queen!"

Darwin actually did not make his belief in our descent from the apes explicit until the publication of The Descent of Man in 1871, which was especially bold, since nothing in the fossil record had yet been discovered. Al is in a much better position. "Magna est veritas," indeed! Posted by Casey Kazan.

If Algore has such a lay down hand, why doesn't he accept the challenge? Could it be he's a mere charlatan out for lucre and knows his thesis is an absolute farce?

I actually read something from a pro-anthropogenic global warming climatologist kook that said that to debate is to give credibility to the deniers. It sounds very Soviet to me. We are living in a remarkable time when scientists can skip the scientific process. They (particularly NASA) keep data private because they "fear it will be misused" and won't debate because they are are already right. It's times like this that I wish the famous physicist Richard Feynmann were still alive to strike out against this scientific corruption.

Charles Darwin had the humility to admit that he did not have all the data required to prove his theory. Much of how new species suddenly arise on our planet is still a mystery. Charles Darwin did not claim that his theory was complete and did not make predictions of gloom and doom. He filled his books with honest observations. Honest scientists must admit that the way new species are formed remains a powerful miracle.

The fantastic power of planet earth to retain a stable environment is a mystery as well. It too is some kind of miracle.

The certainty with which environmentalists predict global disaster by the actions of people is the same certainty some scientists had many centuries ago that global oxygen levels would drop to calamitous levels, that populations would grow to unsustainable levels, and that carbon dioxide would choke us all.

Those on the environmentalist band wageon can not admit to the limited ability of their computer models to predict this coming disaster of global warming... and keep the funding that sustains their barrage of gloom and doom.

How many public appearances will Al Gore and David Suzuki make once the media start to publish the fact that we are far from disaster. Who would bother to read headlines that said, we have no disaster to report today.

But then any load of crap presented in an upper class British accent sounds better than American English and more believable too.

RE Algore...click the link...it says it all!

If you believe in something so dearly that you make a movie about it and travel the world speaking about it why wouldn't you want to defend it in a public form? Unless it's a lie.

Because he has an agenda. He probably doesn't believe in Global Warming himself with his private jet and large houses. So, he keeps himself valid through this crap.

I would think Al Gore might regard it as an honour to be compared to the likes of Darwin. Does this mean those in denial of climate change identify themselves with young Earth creationists?

IN MY ESTIMATION, AL GORE SURRENDERED ANY SEMBLANCE OF CREDIBILITY AND FORTITUDE WHEN HE COWERED AND FOLDED IN FLORIDA IN THE FACE OF THE OPPOSITION ( BUSH AND CREW) AND GAVE UP ON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION -- ON BULLYING TACTICS BY THE REPUBLICANS. WE GOT LUCKY BECAUSE OF IT, BECAUSE WHO WOULD WANT A POOF LIKE THAT RUNNING A COUNTRY.
