Daily Video Classic -Dante's Inferno, a 3-D Animated Film

Dante2_1I've just finished watching Dante's Inferno by Director Sean Meredith, which premiered at SlamDance in Park City during the Sundance Film Festival. It's a 3-D animated modern adaption of Dante's Inferno -think of a Frank Miller graphic novel using 3-D hand-drawn paper puppets meets Dante via Commedia del Arte, Elmore Leonard, and Pixar. It's absolutely phenomenal...a noir, moving, 21st century form and style morphing into a new genre.

Dante’s Hell is brought to lurid 3-dimensional, high-definition life in a darkly comedic travelogue of the underworld — set against an urban backdrop of used car lots, gated communities, strip malls, and the U.S. Capitol, populated by a contemporary cast of reprobates, including famous — and infamous — politicians, presidents, popes, pimps. And the Prince of Darkness himself.

Four Stars! Posted by Casey Kazan.
