Daily Pic -Stellar Debris

Stellardebris_1This photo of N49 Supernova should put your day in perspective. N49 is one of five mature supernova remnants in the Large Magellenic Cloud taken by the Chandra X-ray Observatory -one of NASA's "Great Observatories." The Great Observatories were four missions selected by NASA to explore different types of radiation and tackle the biggest questions in astronomy

The unique filamentary structure seen in the optical image by Hubble has long set N49 apart from other supernova remnants, which usually appear roughly circular in visible light.
